Kinex Receives Phase 2 SBIR Award from the National Cancer Institute

Kinex Pharmaceuticals has been awarded a Phase 2 SBIR Award from the National Cancer Institute to develop biomarkers for its cancer drug KX2-391. The award in the amount of $955,063 will fund research and development efforts to identify and develop biomarkers for potential use in monitoring disease in patients receiving KX2-391. Potentially, biomarkers can also be used to select patients who will benefit from this treatment course.

According to Dr. David Hangauer, Senior Vice President of Research and Development at Kinex, “Acknowledgement of the potential that this technology may have in the treatment and clinical management of cancer patients, via this award, is a testimony to the extraordinary advances we have made at Kinex”.

Phase 1 clinical trials with KX2-391 have been completed and several Phase 2 studies are expected to begin later this year.
