Kinex Founder Presentation Distinguished

Dr. David Hangauer, a Founder and Senior Vice President of Research and Development at Kinex Pharmaceuticals received an award for best poster at the Gordon Conference on Medicinal Chemistry that was held in New London, New Hampshire on August 5-10, 2007.

The posted entitled “Drug-receptor binding affinity: The strength of hydrophobic binding can be increased by adding hydrogen bonds elsewhere in the ligand” highlighted some of the work that is on-going in Dr. Hangauer’s academic lab. The poster was co-authored by Michael Smolinski and Marek Freindorf, University at Buffalo collaborators as well as members of the Gerhard Klebe lab in Marburg, Germany.

As a result of the poster being chosen as “Best Poster from an Academic Lab”, Dr. Hangauer was invited to present this work, in an oral presentation, to the conference attendees. This distinction is one of many that Dr. Hangauer has received and clearly illustrates the esteemed reputation he has in the filed of medicinal chemistry.

Kinex Pharmaceuticals was founded based on work that came from the Hangauer Lab at the University of Buffalo that enables the generation of small molecule non-ATP inhibitors of tyrosine kinases.
