Kinex Pharmaceuticals Selects KXO1 as a Clinical Candidate for Oncology

Kinex Pharmaceuticals has identified a highly selective inhibitor of Src kinase and will develop the compound for uses in oncology. The compound, KXO1, is an orally active small molecule that inhibits Src by binding in the substrate pocket. “KXO1 will be the first non-ATP competitive Src kinase inhibitor to be evaluated in clinical trials” said Dr. David Hangauer, Senior Vice President of research and Development at Kinex. The Company believes that the exquisite selectivity profile of KXO1 will result in a treatment with fewer side-effects than current kinase inhibitors in development. Kinex expects to file an IND for KXO1 during the first half of 2007.
